Blogging Websites Need More Than Just A Good Idea

Posted by Alan Edmunds On January - 31 - 2009

The web is full of blogs and sites that talk about blogging that it can be difficult for you to set your blog site apart from others.

Whether you are starting up a new web site aimed at bloggers or whether you are looking to make your existing blogging site more distinctive, the key to building and maintaining a site that will capture the interest and attention of the blogging community is finding your niche.

If you have the ability to fulfill a unique need, you can build an active leadership among those who read blogs. When you have discovered what your niche should be, there is still a lot to do. On the other hand, there is no better place to start than with your niche.

You need first to have a great idea with your blog; without it you cant have an excellent blog. There are a lot of sites which are aimed directly at bloggers themselves and the competition is steep for this particular niche.

In order to have your website stand out from among the rest, youll need to offer something new and different”something that no other site is offering or youll need to be more impressive when blogging on an already popular topic.

One way to discover an ideal model for your blogging web site is to look at the sites that have successfully captured a blogging audience already to determine if you can appropriate some of their strategies to help realize your vision.

You will need to add some of your own distinctive flair to your own project so that you stand apart. Web sites that do the best in the blogging world inject a bit of personality into their site.

Bloggers are fiercely individual and respond particularly to personality. Consider, in fact, how you can lend your own voice and feeling to a blog site. It will make the contact so much more personal and easy to read.

Once you have a great idea for your site, have pinpointed a special niche that you are well equipped to fill, and have infused the site with personality, the next step is figuring out how to get the word out to bloggers.

It just isnt enough to have a great idea. You need to have a good marketing strategy in order to get readers to go to your site.

Once you get a blogger hooked, the content you write will keep them coming back for more. They just need a first great glimpse of your great site and then it all starts to happen.

Those who are running a smaller company may find that blogging for business owners is the way to go. Blogging is an excellent way to get the word to the various customers youve worked so hard to keep all these years. You can let people know about new services or products youve got out there and it can even inspire employees to be more loyal.

If you want to take your own business to a new level, consider what a blog can do for you.

Blogging for business owners has a lot in common with all other types of blogging, but it has its own unique pitfalls and strengths. The key to having a successful blog as a business owner is keeping your goals clear and concrete at every step of your blogging adventure.

Its easy to get sidetracked in all of this, especially if youre new to blogging. If you want your blog to be successful, youll need to remain focused on the task at hand.

Write up a planning guide as to how often youll do your blog, how youll promote your blog and whether or not youll include pictures or videos or other features in your blog. Stick with the same type of determination that got your business going in the first place.

Build Your Traffic with PLR (Private Label Rights) Content

Posted by James T. Maxwell On January - 31 - 2009

The Internet is still first-and-foremost and information medium for many of its users. That means having informative content is an opportunity for you to receive traffic from people are looking for the type of information you offer. One of the ways you can put that content together quickly and easily is by using PLR content, instead of creating your own content from scratch.

How to Make it Work:

Search engine optimization. When people search for specific topics online, they type in keywords and the search engine does the work of scanning the entire Internet to find websites that contain these or relevant keywords. Once you set up your website, you will want to increase the amount of times that your website gets pulled based on the prevalent topics you are publishing.

IMPORTANT: To make your PLR content rank well in search engines, you will need to make some changes. You’ll need to find appropriate keyword phrases from a place like wordtracker.com and rework the content to target a phrase other PLR publishers arent using.

Social Networking and What it Could Mean For You: People like to be in the loop so to speak when it comes to what others are doing. There are different social networking sites or social community forums you could use to your advantage. Keeping friends, family and possibly potential clients up to date with the content you have to offer through such sites as Twitter, Facebook or Squidoo is definitely a step in the right direction. If you would like to go even farther you can look into automatic posting systems as well.

More content generally means more traffic. It only makes sense that the more web ages you create and own, the more traffic you will generate. PLR content makes it easy to create plenty of web pages.

How Can I Become my Niche Authority?: Do you have a topic or two you would like to start websites about, but youre not an expert on the topic? With private label rights content you have the information researched for you already. The person who wrote that PLR content you has an understanding ahead of time what there is to know about that topic. By using the information on your website and attracts traffic you are becoming an authority on the topic at hand. You are now the go-to person all your readers will refer their friends to.

How to Create the Best Quality Videos for Youtube

Posted by Mark Robertson On January - 31 - 2009

Ok so, youre posting videos on YouTube and they lookwell they look like junk. Youre wondering what the heck is going on and how the heck to fix it, right? Well thats where we come in. This article will give you some quick tips and tricks to getting the best quality you can out of YouTube until they change the how and what of their service to allow for better videos or HD content.

There are several variables that you yourself can control prior to uploading the video to the service. Of these the most important are outlined below.

Resolution ” Taking a video at a resolution too small for YouTube means that when it goes into the service it will need to be stretched. This is a surefire way to lose most if not all of the quality of a video and even may make it unwatchable. Your best bet for a safe resolution is the recommended YouTube size of 1280×720, also known as 720. Now youre all gasping because you can get HD quality. It will make for a large file but YouTube can handle up to 1GB files as long as theyre not more than 10 minutes (actually 10:59).

Bitrate ” Without getting into the technical mumbo jumbo, this is how much information each second of your video is. The more information means the better quality generally. So when youre making your video, editing or converting youll want to get this to somewhere around 6 Megabits-per-second and 8 Megabits-per-second. This will give you a large file size that should fit into the YouTube limits (1GB) and still give you ample quality after the YouTube compression process. This is a good way to make sure your video will retain some semblance of what it looked like when you made it.

What else can you do to help YouTube make your video the best it can be? Well you can make sure your audio tracks are set to MP3 or AAC encoding (44.1KHz Stereo) for one. Another thing you can do is make sure the file format is H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 format because quite simply, YouTube doesnt really like much else. You can get yourself a video editor that handles multiple formats to help you with all of this and so that you can convert and edit as you need. You neednt pay a lot for one, even Quicktime Pro is only $30. Finally you can keep your video file above 30 frames per second and this will help reduce jitter after the compression process.

Now that youve got that all set, save your file and upload to YouTube. Having set many of your settings at or better than YouTube you are making it a touch easier for them to compress. So wait until its done and voila! You have got yourself a good looking YouTube Video.

Utah SEO Geek

Yes, I live in Utah. Yes, I love SEO, and yes, I’m a geek. All three things are evident if you see my new custom Utah license plate featuring my favorite three-letter acronym: SEO.

So what kind of car would you expect to be sporting these sweet tags? A Hummer? A BMW? How ’bout an Audi R8? Naw, those would all be too cool for a search geek like me. This Utah search geek drives a 1998 Toyota Camry.

I know what you’re thinking, but stay with me on this…if you think about it, this is a perfect car to represent SEO. First of all, it’s a 1998, which is the year I first started doing SEO. Of course, we didn’t call it SEO back then, and it was all about meta tags and submitting your site to the search engines. Speaking of search engines, there were about a dozen that we cared about back then and none of them were named Google. It’s also a great car to represent SEO because is is very fuel-efficient–just like SEO is a very efficient way to spend your marketing dollars. And even though it’s not flashy, it’s reliable and it just keeps going after all these years, just like SEO. Oh, and last, but not least it’s paid for. Has been for a while. Just like search engine optimization is a marketing method that pays for itself early and often.

So if you see me driving my SEO-mobile around the streets of Utah, give me a honk. Two honks if you’re a fellow SEO geek.

Top eBook Design Tips For Ensuring Your Ebook’s A Bestseller!

Posted by Kieren Moran On January - 30 - 2009

If you are looking to increase the number of conversions that you can garner in the sales of your eBooks, then there are a number of eBook design elements that you need to be sure to implement. Your eBook cover design is one of the most important elements of your eBook, because not only does it indicate to potential readers what your book is all about, but it also gives them an indication of how professional your eBook really is.

Good eBook design also needs to occur within your eBook, because your eBook should be easy to read and professional in all ways.

eBook Cover Design

Three core values that your ebook cover design should present include a high degree of professionalism, enhancement in the viewer’s level of perceived value, and an artistic and presentable appearance.

There are a number of ways for you to make sure that your cover design is effective. You should not rush the creation of your eBook cover design. You are going to want an eBook cover design with a readable font style and size, an image that fits well with the concept of the eBook, and a design that is visually appealing without any clutter.

If your ebook has been written professionally and the ebook cover design is attractive and authoritative, then readers are going to be much more willing to trust what you say and instruct- leading both many more conversions and sales over time.

More On eBook Design

Clearly there are a different set of requirements when it comes to internal ebook design. Images should be included within in a balanced way that is not too overwhelming, but enhancing way.

When it comes to the font color used inside your ebook design, you need to remember that reading is tiring after a while- and so anything you can do to make the text easier to read will be appreciated. This means usually a black text on a white background is best, with few exceptions within text boxes and the like.

Be sure to include also a contents table in your ebook layout which can be individually clicked to allow for your reader to skip to sections easily and have no trouble finding the exact part that they are after when searching.

Your ebook design should be viewed both in printed format AND on the computer screen to ensure that it is very easy to read in each case. Many people don’t like to read a whole ebook from their computer screen, so you need to make sure that the font colors, styles and sizes are all suitable for whatever method of reading you customers choose.

The average page of your eBook should be approximately 300 words, which leaves enough room for a chapter title and an image if you so choose. You should not include images on every page, as this can bog down the appearance of your eBook.

To help get a much needed new perspective on your ebook design you should consider also printing a portion of it out onto paper. Simply seeing it in ink will often times trigger new ideas and help you make the changes you’re after.

Having a well designed ebook will often help you attract higher conversion rates and sales online. If it is easy to tell that you have put much time and energy into your ebook then your customers will appreciate your efforts… leading to them telling others about your attractive and helpful ebook.

Posted by Ian Pelham On January - 30 - 2009

Blogging news stories as they unfold is one of the most exciting and controversial applications of technology that bloggers have discovered. One thing that makes the blogosphere so active is the fact that it is possible to update a blog instantaneously, so the news on blogs tends to be more current than the news in the paper, or on television.

Unlike news delivered by these types of media, blog news doesnt require editors and others who administrate the news so it gets to the public eye much faster. There are advantages and disadvantages to this medium.

One example where blogs hit the media before the press took place during the bombing of a London subway in July 2005.

There was an explosion and, as passengers were getting out of the subway, one guy took several photos and uploaded them online. The first-person stories of the even showed up on blogs and there were those all over the world reading the exact words of the bloggers and survivors.

The crisis felt really immediate to those who were reading it without the eyes of an editor on these raw pieces. The blogging was very personal to those who were reading it.

Blogging has the potential to become a new era in journalism by putting the power of words into the common person who happened to be at the wrong place at the right time.

Many bloggers and cultural commentators who are champions of the weblog movement feel that this growing trend of individuals who getting their news from blogs is a good thing, because it makes the flow of information more democratic.

By decentralizing the control of news, blogs allow more voices to enter the field of debate about important current events. However, many people are adamantly opposed to the use of blogs as news outlets, and there are plenty of good arguments on this side of the debate.

Unlike newspapers or television stations, few blogs have fact-checkers, and there is little attention paid to journalistic accountability on many blogs. This can lead to the rapid spread of misinformation, and more than one falsehood has taken the blogosphere by storm.

There are complicated issues around whether or not blogging news as it happens is an ethical thing. No matter where you stand on the issue, however, you are sure to agree that this is a fascinating new method that is destined to change the news industry.

If you find yourself interested in consolidation, debt and other financial topics and love blogging, you can blog yourself and share what you know about these topics. Email Marketing and The Mailing List

Posted by Sam Ernie Orion On January - 30 - 2009

We all know that every aspect of Internet marketing has a specific tool that helps to drive traffic and sales, and any email marketing campaign is no different. What you need to concentrate on here is developing and building up a mailing list since that is the real cornerstone of any successful email marketing campaign. Remember that there is no denying the power of a well run email marketing campaign and with that in mind there are specific things you can do to ensure that your mailing list is strong and healthy.

Offer Something For Free

One of the oldest advertising gimmicks in the book is still one of the more effective. Its important to keep in mind that you really want your mailing list to have opt in clients. Those are the people that are much more likely to read what youve got for them, and offering this kind of incentive will push them to sign up. One of the more effective techniques is to get a content writer to write a free ebook and then offer the use of it as a bonus for signing on.

Contests

People love to be included in interactive events. Sponsoring a contest on your site draws people in to sign. There is one drawback that youll need to be aware of if you travel this route. Not everyone who subscribes in this manner will eventually convert into a sale. Many of the people that you attract this way will be people habitually playing all the contests looking for the latest freebie.

Article Marketing

This is one of the most tried and tested methods used today. Hiring a ghost writer who will work for a reasonable fee all but ensures that youll get a series of professional articles submitted that cant help but eventually build your mailing list.

Directories

Again, this is one of the more traditional but effective methods used on the Internet. Business Directories are a great way of getting your name out there in cyberspace so that you can draw the kind of attention that will help to build your mailing list in the end.

Of course there are other methods that include ad swaps and hover ads, but the major point here is that you want to have people subscribe to your mailing list. That way, youll already have their willing attention and the buildup on your mailing list will result in a solid email marketing campaign.

SEO Marketing And Link Building

Posted by Ron Salmore On January - 29 - 2009

You’re a hot shot SEO consultant or you might even be someone who is looking all around the Internet searching for search engine marketing consulting services. The goal for anything related to SEO is to rank high in the main search engines like Google and also Yahoo.

Well in 2009 which is when I’m writing this article the most important factor plain and simple to getting great search engine results is based on the amount of links you have pointing towards your web pages and websites. To put it simply if you want to rank well then you need to set up a plan on how you’re going to go out there and build links.

It won’t take much searching on the Internet to find tons of self proclaimed SEO Gurus on the web telling you that they are the next best thing since sliced bread and that they’ll be able to get you great traffic and amazing rankings in the main search engines. It’s true they might know some cool things about SEO but the fact of the matter is the main thing they understand is the importance of link building.

Because search engines like Google or Yahoo are actually machines or computers they use algorithms in order to judge content and what is relevant to any search that their users perform. Things like keywords and optimizing your web pages properly are all very important but when it comes down to it the search engines count links to decide who is going to grab top rankings in the organic search results.

Too many of us judging a website by its links may seem a bit strange but not to the search engines. If you think about it in some ways it’s true. If you have a blog or a website you usually link to other blogs or websites that you like or got value out of so Google and Yahoo also understand this.

Think about this scenario. If you have a great blog and you decide to do something really cool. What usually happens as people start to find out about it around the internet? They link to that page of yours because you did or told something interesting, valuable, and unique.

What it really comes down to is this. If you are an SEO consultant and you want to be successful then you need to know that building up back links all around the Internet is going to be a big part of your job in order to succeed.

The point of this article is not to methodically teach you about methods of link building but just to make sure you understand the level of importance they play in the SEO consulting game.
